Tap the right Option key
Select any text anywhere on your Mac, tap the key, and a real voice reads it back with the spoken word lit. You never leave the window you were in.
Everything you have heard is still here
Every listen is kept in a folder on your Mac, replayable at any speed, and it is yours.
Where it reads
Mail, a browser, a terminal, an editor, notes, chat. If you can select it, Chippy can read it.
I just want people to sit at their computer, press one of these two keys, and just sort of like burn it into their brain. That this is how they use Chippy.
Talk is being built now and is not in the preview build yet.
Hold the right Command key
Hold the key and talk. Let go, and what you said lands as text wherever your cursor is, in the same window you were in.
Long or short
A sentence for a message, or forty minutes of thinking out loud on a walk. If it cannot be transcribed on the spot it is saved on your Mac and transcribed when it can be, with no cap.
One pair of keys
Listening and talking are the two halves of one thing, so they share one pair of keys and one pool of voice credits, spent on either.
For Chippy to actually be a sticky product, it has to do voice. I think it genuinely has to do voice input.
Where it runs
macOS today. The app sits on your Mac, the two keys are yours everywhere you type, and everything you have heard stays in a folder on that machine.
iOS next. Hold the button on your phone, say it on the walk home, and it is waiting as text on your Mac when you sit down. There is no phone app yet.
